December Sunday school lessons begin with the words of Micah and God’s promise of peace to come. Then the angel Gabriel gifts the elderly Elizabeth and Zechariah with news that they will become parents of John. Lessons continue with an emphasis on Advent, the countercultural season of preparation and waiting for the birth of Jesus. Then there is an opportunity to rejoice like the shepherds and ponder like Mary and finally the recognition of baby Jesus as the future of Israel by the elderly Simeon and Anna.
Marilyn Gross taught Sunday school during November with Sue Kremser substituting as needed and we are grateful to them.
We’re also grateful to Evie and Everett Pazan for helping to hand out Bulletins the week before Thanksgiving.
Colorful, but empty bags were made available and people took them to fill for Isla Vista Youth Project families. They need to be returned by December 15 at the latest in order for the contents to be sorted and gift tagged. They will be delivered to IVYP on December 16.

The hard workers in our nesting church, Ministerios Betel, spent a recent Saturday thoroughly cleaning the parts of our church they use. Happily for us, this included the Nursery and it looks wonderful. Muchas Gracias! Now our Nursery coordinator, Elizabeth Spero, has much better organized space.

Our Christmas Service will be December 22 at the usual time of 9:30 am.
See you at the Christmas Potluck, 5:00 pm December 8!
With many blessings,
Alison
