Thank you so much for your support of the annual LOG Rummage Sale! We are so blessed by our GPC community. With your help we raised over $2900 to help with LOG scholarships and with the rising costs of the retreat location, food, and supplies.
Each LOG retreat costs over $5,000, and we have two retreats each year, one in March and one in November. The GPC congregation helps to share the love of God with high school teens in our community, and we are so grateful to you.
The annual Love of God (LOG) rummage sale is coming up on Saturday, February 10, from 7am to 11am, with a special GPC-only "after-sale" on Sunday, February 11 after the worship service. Please support our GPC and community youth by donating items to the sale, and/or shopping at the sale. Items can be brought to the Marion Patch room any time between now and the Sale. We will accept most anything in sale-able condition, except please no old tube-TVs, broken items, vintage computers, or heavy furniture. For more details: Warren and Elisa Takaya, LOG Directors, at 805-680-6969. Thanks so much for your support.
An All-Church HOEDOWN will happen from 11am-2pm on Sunday, January 21. There will be games, food, drinks, and live music! Cost is $5 per person. Kids under 10 are free.
The 2019 Per Capita amount is $70 per member.
These funds go to support the work of Presbytery and the national denomination. Your payment is optional, but GPC is responsible to pay $70 per member whether or not all members pay their own allotment.
If you haven't already turned in your 2018 pledge card, please do that as soon as possible.
Extra cards are available in the narthex. If you have questions, please see Jim Friestad or John Bloomer.
Wednesday Bible Study group meetings are held at 12pm noon each Wednesday at The Flight Line (formerly known as High Sierra Bar & Grill) at 521 Firestone Road in Goleta. All are welcome!

In the first Sunday school lesson in May, Jesus gives Peter a job to do. He is to care for Jesus' people. Jesus ascends into heaven after promising the disciples that they will receive power from the Holy Spirit. A new disciple, named Matthias, is chosen to replace Judas. At Pentecost, the disciples are filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in many languages. The final session in May is the story of Jesus as the vine, and we as the branches.
Teachers in April were Chuck Roth, Marilyn Gross and Sue Kremser and we thank them.
Easter was a busy and happy day at GPC. Many children joined us for the celebration. Sunday school and the nursery were very busy places and the Easter Egg hunt was popular. Thanks to the many generous people who helped to fill the eggs in advance and to those who helped to hide them before the Easter service began. The back lawn proved a worthwhile location.
The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and I’m thinking about planning for Villa Week which will be July 30-August 3 with presentation on August 5. Please have your children mention it to their friends, it is a very reasonable cost compared to most camps. The original script is being written by our drama director with Noah’s Ark as the theme.
Sunday school teacher appreciation will be part of the Youth Service on June 3 so please plan to be present on that date. Late-Spring blessings to everyone,
